Viewing a memory
Browse your memories in Galmund's viewer: scroll between them, see them on the map, and use the options menu.

The memory viewer is where you open any photo or video from your globe to see it in detail, browse nearby memories, and manage each one.
Opening a memory
Click any memory pin on the globe, or any card inside a country's album, to open the viewer.
Navigating between memories
Scroll up or down to move to the next or previous one, like a short-video feed. A thumbnail side rail also shows up, with nearby memories in geographic order; tap a thumbnail to jump straight to it.
💡 Videos autoplay when opened, showing the thumbnail first while the file loads. Whatever mute/sound preference you pick is saved for the next video memories you open.
Split-view on Desktop
On desktop, the viewer opens in two columns: the memory on the left, and an interactive map on the right, always centered on that photo or video's location. You can pan and zoom the map without closing the viewer.
On mobile, the map is hidden by default: tap the map button to see the open memory's location.
The "•••" menu
Open the menu in the corner of the viewer to:
- Download the original file
- View or edit the caption and location (see the editing memories article)
- Toggle between Public and Private
- Delete the memory
Closing the viewer
Close it with the ✕: you're taken back to the globe (or the country's album, if that's where you opened it from), at the camera position you left it at.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move to the next memory?
Scroll up or down, like a short-video feed. Galmund preloads the previous and next ones in the background, so scrolling is instant.
Can I see where a memory was taken while viewing it?
On desktop, yes: the viewer opens in split-view, with the photo or video on the left and an interactive map on the right, centered on that location. On mobile, tap the map button to see the memory's location.
How do I download a memory?
Open the "•••" menu in the viewer and choose Download.
Can I mute a video's sound?
Yes, right in the viewer: your mute/sound preference is saved for the next video memory you open.
What's the thumbnail side rail?
A row of thumbnails of nearby memories (in geographic order, not just chronological) that appears next to the viewer. Tap a thumbnail to jump straight to it without scrolling one by one.
